Overview

Weapon Pick-ups are temporary power-ups that appear during Story and Endless Dungeon runs, providing players with limited-use special weapons. These items drop from defeated enemies or destroyed objects, offering strategic advantages and combat variety without permanently altering character loadouts.

Weapon Types

Temporary Guns

  • Replace your main ranged weapon with a special variant
  • Limited ammunition count (cannot be reloaded)
  • Unique visual appearance and effects
  • Return to main weapon when ammunition is depleted

Temporary Melee Weapons

  • Replace your main melee weapon with an upgraded version
  • Limited number of attacks
  • Enhanced visual effects during combat
  • Return to main melee weapon when uses are depleted

Acquisition & Duration

  • Drop Source: Enemies and destructible objects
  • Drop Chance: Configurable percentage chance
  • Ground Duration: Limited time before disappearing if not collected
  • Maximum Drops: Only one pick-up or vehicle can exist in the environment at any time
  • Availability: Can be collected by any allied player or AI companion

Usage Rules

Priority Order

When multiple special items are active, they are consumed in this order:

  1. Vehicle
  2. Temporary Gun/Melee
  3. Main Gun/Melee

Compatibility

  • Boosts applied to main weapons do not transfer to temporary weapons
  • Temporary weapons come with their own preset boosts
  • Boosts activated while using temporary weapons will apply to main weapons upon return
  • Multiple pick-ups of the same type: Newer pick-ups override older ones
  • Different weapon types: New pick-up replaces current temporary weapon

Persistence

  • Pick-ups do not carry over between dungeon levels unless already activated
  • Effects persist through player death and revival
  • Summons continue to use main weapons regardless of player's temporary weapon

Visual Indicators

Ground Indicators

  • Floating weapon mesh appears at drop location
  • Visual effects indicate remaining collection time
  • Off-screen indicators point to pick-up locations

Active Indicators

  • Weapon model visibly changes to temporary weapon
  • HUD displays pick-up type icon and remaining uses
  • Health bar includes special "powered-up" visual effect
  • Melee weapons show surrounding VFX while enhanced

Strategic Considerations

  • Pick-ups provide opportunity for temporary playstyle changes
  • Limited ammunition/uses encourages strategic deployment
  • Team coordination to determine optimal pick-up allocation
  • Pick-ups can turn the tide in difficult encounters

Configurable Parameters

Game designers can adjust several parameters to balance pick-up mechanics:

  • Toggle availability by dungeon type, difficulty, or game mode
  • Adjust drop chance percentages
  • Set maximum simultaneous drops
  • Modify ground duration timers
  • Define weapon attributes and boost effects
