Introduction to Equipment Progression

Equipment progression is a fundamental aspect of Sipher Odyssey that allows players to enhance their Vessels' combat capabilities. This wiki provides a comprehensive guide to understanding the equipment leveling, refinement, and augment systems to help you maximize your Vessels' potential in battle.

Equipment Basics

Each piece of equipment has several key attributes:

  • Level: Determines the equipment's stat values and augment ranks
  • Rarity: Affects maximum level, refinement options, and augment potential
  • Race Requirement: Determines which Vessels can equip the item
  • Tier: Defines the equipment's power level within its rarity
  • Primary Stats: Core attributes that increase with levels
  • Secondary Stats: Additional attributes that can be refined

Equipment Types & Loadout Requirements

A complete Vessel loadout consists of:

  • Weapons: 1 Ranged & 1 Melee
  • Armor: Chest, Head, Hand, Leg, and Foot gear

Different equipment types have varying progression patterns:

  • Weapons & Chest Gear: 3 augment slots with upgrades at specific levels
  • Legs, Feet, Head & Hands Gear: 2 augment slots with upgrades at specific levels
  • Trinkets: Can be leveled but augments do not gain new ranks

Equipment Leveling System

Level Up Process

To level up equipment:

  1. Access your Inventory and select the equipment
  2. Choose "Level Up Equipment" option
  3. Spend required Soft Currency & Chips
  4. Confirm the level up

Resource Requirements

Equipment leveling requires:

  • Bytes (Soft Currency): Primary resource
  • Chips: Specialized resource for equipment leveling
    • Obtained from salvaging equipment/parts
    • Occasionally dropped in dungeons
    • Awarded from missions and events

Stat Increases

When equipment levels up:

  • Only Primary Stats increase (calculated by formula)
  • Stat increase per level = (Max Stat - Min Stat) / (Max Level - 1)
  • Secondary Stats remain unchanged throughout leveling

Augment Upgrade System

At specific levels, equipment augments upgrade to higher ranks, increasing their effectiveness.

Equipment Refinement System

Refinement allows players to re-roll Secondary Stats on their equipment.

Refinement Mechanics

  • Only Secondary Stats can be re-rolled
  • Primary Stats are fixed and cannot be changed
  • Maximum refinable stat lines vary by rarity:
    • Common/Uncommon: No refinement
    • Rare/Epic: 1 line
    • Legendary/Mythic: 2 lines

Resource Requirements

Refinement requires:

  • Bytes (Soft Currency)
  • Special Material (increases with each re-roll)
  • Re-roll costs increase with each attempt on the same equipment

Refinement Rules

  • New stats will never duplicate existing equipment stats
  • New stats will never match the previous stat being replaced
  • For NFT Vessels, re-roll count resets when transferred to a new account

Augment Replacement System

Players can swap augments on their equipment to customize their build.

Replacement Process

  1. Access the Augment Replacement screen in the Armory
  2. Select the augment to be replaced
  3. Choose from randomly generated options (3 by default)
  4. Confirm replacement or keep original augment

Resource Requirements

Augment replacement requires:

  • Bytes (Soft Currency)
  • Special Material (matching the equipment tier)
  • Equipment Part (same type, tier & rarity)
  • Costs increase with each replacement on the same equipment

Replacement Rules

  • Maximum replaceable augment slots are configurable (default: 1)
  • When one slot is re-rolled, others are permanently locked
  • New augments cannot duplicate existing augments on the equipment

Equipment Set Bonuses

Set Equipment provides additional benefits when multiple pieces from the same set are equipped.

Set Activation Thresholds

Set bonuses activate at specific thresholds:

  • 2 Pieces: Initial set bonus
  • 4 Pieces: Intermediate set bonus
  • 5 Pieces (Full Set): Major set bonus

Set Equipment Rules

  • Equipment Sets are always Mythic rarity
  • Body gear pieces come with a special Passive ability
  • Full set (5 pieces) enhances the Body's Passive
  • Sub-race specific sets provide more specialized bonuses
  • Special visual effects may appear when wearing a full set

Equipment Tier Upgrade System

Players can increase the tier of their equipment for enhanced performance.

Upgrade Process

  1. Select equipment to upgrade
  2. Provide required materials (same type, rarity & tier equipment)
  3. Pay Soft Currency cost
  4. Confirm tier upgrade

Upgrade Rules

  • Requires multiple equipment pieces of same rarity and tier
  • Must use same equipment type (Ranged with Ranged, Melee with Melee, etc.)
  • Augment tier increases alongside equipment tier
  • Both Primary and Secondary stats increase to match new tier

Race Requirements & Default Loadouts

Race Requirements

Equipment has two race requirement types:

  • Exclusive: Can only be equipped by a specific race
  • Shared: Can be equipped by multiple races (typically gender-based)
    • Example: INU, BURU, SARU can share male equipment
    • Example: NEKO, NEZUMI, HEBI can share female equipment

Default Loadouts

  • Each Sub-Race has a default loadout
  • Default equipment has level 1 (cannot be upgraded)
  • Not visible in inventory screen
  • Automatically equipped when regular equipment is unequipped

Level Requirements

Equipment has minimum Vessel level requirements based on type and rarity:

  • Higher rarity equipment requires higher Vessel levels
  • Level requirements are fixed per equipment type and rarity
  • Reference the Equipment Level Requirement Table for specific values

Strategic Considerations

  • Focus on leveling equipment for your main Vessels first
  • Prioritize upgrading equipment with optimal augments
  • Save refinement materials for Epic+ equipment
  • Consider set bonuses when planning your loadout
  • Balance equipment progression across your team
  • Plan augment replacements carefully as slots become locked after first re-roll

By mastering the equipment progression system, you'll significantly enhance your Vessels' combat effectiveness in Sipher Odyssey.
