Capsules are Sipher Odyssey's version of a gacha or banner system, providing players with rare and powerful items through an engaging loot mechanic. Instead of collecting and storing capsules in your inventory, you'll collect Keys that allow you to open these capsules directly from the Sipher Shop.
Key Types
There are two main types of keys used to open capsules:
Focus Keys
Premium keys used for specialized capsules:
- Vessel Capsule Keys: Open capsules containing Vessel-related items (characters, shards, etc.)
- Equipment Capsule Keys: Open capsules containing equipment-related items (weapons, gear, parts, etc.)
Standard Keys
Used for opening Standard Capsules with a variety of general rewards.
Important: Each key type can only open its designated capsule type. Even though Focus Keys are premium, they cannot be used to open Standard Capsules.
Opening Capsules
You can open capsules in two ways:
- Single Open: Use 1 key to receive 1 item
- Multi-Open: Use 10 keys to receive 10 items
If you want to perform a multi-open but don't have enough keys, you can purchase the missing keys using ROM (premium currency) directly during the opening process.
Pity Pull System
To ensure players receive high-quality rewards after multiple openings, Sipher Odyssey implements a Pity Pull system. This guarantees rare items after a certain number of unsuccessful capsule openings.
How Pity Works
- Lower Rarity Guarantee: For example, in the Weapon Capsule, an Epic weapon is guaranteed after 20 pulls if none has been received
- Higher Rarity Guarantee: A Legendary item is guaranteed after 50 pulls if none has been received
Important notes about the Pity system:
- Pity counter is specific to each capsule type and does not carry over
- When a Higher Rarity Pity Pull is triggered, both Higher and Lower counters reset
- For Equipment Capsules, the pity counter only resets when you pull a full equipment item (not parts or software)
- When a capsule levels up, any pity pull will provide rewards based on the new level
Fully Generated Rewards
Capsules have a chance to drop fully generated items:
Vessel Capsules
Can drop fully generated Vessels with pre-determined boosts and stats (at a low rate).
Equipment Capsules
Can drop fully crafted Equipment (at a low rate):
- Weapons come with 2 Weapon Parts and Software slot
- Gear comes with Software
- All parts and software will match the rarity and tier of the equipment
Special Capsule Types
Power Core Capsules
- Unlocked as you progress through player levels
- Different tiers offer different quality Power Cores
- Example: Normal Power Core Capsule (T1 & T2) unlocks at Player Level 5, while Specialized Power Core Capsule (T2 & T3) unlocks at Player Level 15
Choice Capsules
These special capsules allow you to select one reward from a list of options:
- May contain bundles of items as a single selectable reward
- Cannot be opened in bulk; must be opened one at a time
- Can appear in Daily Login rewards, The Emporium, Mail, Mission/Achievement rewards, and Dungeon rewards
Capsule Level Up System
Equipment Capsules can level up as you continue to open them:
- Level increases apply to all capsules of that type
- Progression is tracked by the number of decryptions (pulls) performed
- Requires Glimmering Keys or ROM (to purchase keys)
Example Level Structure
- Level 1: Default
- Level 2: 120 Decryptions
- Level 3: 180 Decryptions
- Level 4: 240 Decryptions
Higher level capsules feature improved drop rates and access to more valuable items, making continued investment in a particular capsule type increasingly rewarding over time.
Understanding the Capsule system is key to efficiently expanding your collection of Vessels and Equipment in Sipher Odyssey. Strategic use of your keys and careful tracking of pity counters will help maximize the value you receive from this system.
